How often does the unit meet?There is one general business annual meeting held on a weekend day in January. The Executive Board meetings once a month, all members are allowed to attend.
Are there attendance requirements?Yes. A member must attend a minimum of two regimental functions per year. One must be a maximum effort event and at least one other weekend event, meeting, historical presentation, parade, and similar official functions set forth by the Executive board.
What about discipline?The unit abides by a military chain of command. We desire to reenact with greater commitment to authenticity and military procedure and protocol to more accurately reflect the Civil War soldier. Although mechanisms for enforcing the standards are in place, it is expected that individuals who join the Fifth are mature and dedicated and will behave accordingly.
Who commands the unit?All members of the unit are privates. There is a pool of Officers and pool of NCO’s that, when called upon, fill these positions. Officers and NCO’s are voted on by the membership based on leadership qualities, subject matter knowledge, enthusiasm, event participation, and other proficiencies and qualities.
How are Officer/NCO candidates selected?Candidates are elected by the general membership from a slate of members deemed qualified by the Executive Board. There is a pool of these NCOs and Officers that when called upon fill the positions.
Why are annual dues collected?To cover the cost of insurance coverage.
What are the Executive Board’s responsibilities?To act as the governing body of the unit in all matters when not actually on the field. The Board monitors the activities of the Executive Officers who oversee event coordination, expenditures, and manage other company business on a day-to-day basis. 
What about civilians impressions?At present, we do not have a civilian contingent as we are primarily a military/campaigning organization. That being said, we welcome the opportunity to assist authentic civilians in any way and to interact with them in the field in a meaningful and historically accurate context.
Can anyone fall in with the Fifth?This really depends on the quality of your impression and commitment to the hobby. We are very serious about this hobby and uphold the highest standards regarding a quality impression. However, that being said, we enjoy the camaraderie and fun associated with the hobby. So if you are willing to abide by our rules and participate fully in the unit’s activities, then we extend an invitation to you.
What is your affiliation?We are a member of the National Regiment, Inc.
